To get selected in the Indian Airforce as an Airmen. One will have to appear for the Airforce X and Y group. There are basically three phases of selection that one has to clear to join the Indian Airforce as an Airmen. Airforce Airmen Selection Process:
The Selection of the Indian Airforce Airmen is done through the Airforce X and Y Group vacancy. Where the X is for technical and Y is for Non-Technical etc. There are basically three stages in the X and Y group Selection. One has to clear the following:
- Written Examination
- Physical Fitness test
- Medical Examination etc

Airforce X and Y Phase II Selection Process:
After the written exam, One will proceed for the Physical Fitness Test or Physical Efficiency Test. In this there are basically three rounds that one has to go through:
- Documents Verification Round
- Physical Test
- Adaptability Test I and Adaptability Test II etc
Documents Verification Round:
One has to appear for this to get your documents verified by the examiners. This round is very important for your next phase. Here are details related to the documents:
- The candidates are to bring following documents while reporting for Phase-II of Selection Test at the allotted Airmen Selection Centre.
- Colour Print out of duly filled application form downloaded on completion of online registration.
- HB Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener, Glue stick, Stapler and Black/Blue Ball Point Pen for writing.
- Ten copies of un-attested recent (which was used for the online application registration) passport size colour photograph.
- Original and four self-attested photocopies of Matriculation Passing Certificate (required for verification of Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name and his Date of Birth).
- Original and four self-attested photocopies of Matriculation Marks Sheet (only applicable for three years Diploma Course holders when English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
- Original and four self-attested photocopies of Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent Examination Passing Certificate and Marks Sheet etc

Physical Fitness Test:
Under this round, One will appear for the physical activities and on the basis of the performance, one will be given marks that will be calculated while All India Merit List. One will appear for the following activities:
- 1600 meter or 1.6 km of running to be completed in 6.5 minutes.
- 10 push-ups
- 10 sit-ups
- 20 squats etc
There may be more activities, All the activities are simple and one can easily perform is has average physique. All the candidates are advised to carry Sports Shoes and tracksuits.
Adaptability Test 1: In this test, you have to pass the Situation Reaction Test and after that, in Adaptability II you will get Group Discussion.
Adaptability Test II: In this round, One will appear for the Group Discussion, where you will be sitting with the 15 candidates and on the given topic you have the discussion with other candidates. While discussing with the other, remember you have to give some relevant points so that you get enough points to qualify for the next stage.
How to prepare for Airforce X and Y Group Phase II Selection:
There is nothing tough in this round except the Adaptability Tests round. One will appear for the Documentation round, Make sure that your documents are ok like spellings, Date of Birth Parents names, Addresses etc as you mentioned in the application form.
For the Physical Fitness Test, You just need to need to be fit if you are overweight. Anybody can perform the physical activities who has just an average physique that is conducted in the second round of selection.
You just need to prepare for the SRT and GD. The GD and SRT stand for the Group Discussion and Situation Reaction test etc. There are many books available in the market, that may you an overview of this round But to prepare well for this, you must choose the books that are designed by the officers.
