Required Eligibility Criteria to become Assistant Commandant:

There are basically two departments for the Assistant Commandant in the Indian Coast Guard Service. One is technical and another one is non-technical etc. In order to Join Coast Guard As An Assistant Commandant. The educational qualification required is a bit different.

Educational Qualification for Assistant Commandant (GD): One just needs to have done graduation in any stream from any recognized college, Institute University etc with at least 60% marks.

Educational Qualification for Assistant Commandant (Technical): One needs to have done graduation in any technical aspects like B.tech or BE degree from any government recognized College, Institute or University etc with at least 60% marks.

Age Limit Criteria:

The age of the candidate is between 20 years old to 24 years old.
There are some relaxations for the reserved categories candidates like 3 years to OBC candidate and 5 years to SC/ST candidate.

Selection Process to become Coast Guard as an Assistant Commandant:

The Selection of the candidates for the services is done through the examination. A candidate will have to appear for the two phases of written examination which are named as Preliminary examination and final or mains examination etc.

On the basis of the marks scored in the graduation degree, the application form will be shortlisted. All the shortlisted candidates will appear for the Preliminary Examination. It is mandatory to clear both written examinations individually to be considered for the final selection. After the Preliminary, the candidates will proceed for the Mains exam or final exams etc.
