The selection of the Indian Airforce Airmen is done through the Airforce X and Y group Examination. The X group is technical group while the Y group is Non- technical. Indian Airforce Airmen Selection Process and Eligibility Criteria:

The Selection of the Airmen is done on the four phases of selection. It is mandatory to clear all the phases of selection. Here are the details about each phase.

  • Phase 1: Written Examination
  • Phase 2: Physical Efficiency Test
  • Phase 3: Medical Examination
  • Phase 4: All India Merit.

Phase 1 is an Online Examination. Where all the question would be asked in objective form with multiple choice answers. All the candidates who would clear this will proceed for Phase 2 which is PET (Physical Efficiency Test).

In the Phase 2 you will need to appear for some physical activities and two adapdability test which would be for:

Adaptability Test 1: In this test, you have to pass the Situation Reaction Test and after that, in Adaptability 3 you will get Group Discussion.

Adaptability Test 2: In this, you will get Group Discussion, where you will be sitting with the 15 candidates and on the given topic you have the discussion with other candidates.  While discussing with the other, remember you have to give some relevant point so that you get enough points to qualify for the next stage.

NDA Eligibility Criteria 2021 and Selection Process

Phase 3: which is medical exams, where your complete body will be examined under the guidance of the Military Doctors at the miltary hospital.

Phase 4:  This is not an exam, you just have to wait for the All India Rank (AIR) merit list. According to your given test score. There will be an All India Merit list. You have to clear that too also. The final cut-off marks depend on many factors like the number of students who have appeared for the exam, the Total Number of vacancy etc.

Educational Qualification for Airmen Entry:

Group X (Except Education Instructor Trade):

Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English or  Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream

Group ‘Y’ {Except Automobile Technician, IAF (P), IAF(S) & Musician} Trades:

Passed Intermediate/ 10+2/ Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central/ State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

How to prepare for the Airmen’s Exam:

The preparation can be done in many ways. One will need to clear the Written Exam, Physical Efficiency test and medical Examination etc. the Written Exam is the toughest phase of selection. One will need to prepare for this in a better manner.
