How to Join the Indian Army After Graduation

What is NCC (National Cadets Corps):

This is three years program in which you will be trained like an Army Soldier with all Army Rituals and at last you will be given’ C’ certificate. You can apply thorugh the NCC Special Entry Scheme to become Officer in the Indian Army. You will not have to attend any Written Exam, you will be directly called for the SSB Interview and then medical. For the Army soldiers, You can apply through this entry you will get around 70% relaxation in the Physical tests. For this NCC special entry , You must have NCC ‘C’ certificate with Minimum ‘B’ grade. This is one of the best way to start your career in the Indian Army.

This is only for the Candidate who have NCC ‘C’ certificate with minimum B grade. The candidate who have done the NCC (National Cadet Corps) for three years of Junior wings or senior wings. they Apply for the NCC special entry in the Indian Army as well as Other forces also.

Eligibility Criteria:

There is nothing much required in the Eligibility Criteria section. There are two wings in the NCC (National Cadet Corps). The required eligibility Criteria for both are different:

Junior Wings: if you are apply after 12th entry, Here are the required eligibilty criteria that is mandatory to have:

  • A candidate should have passed class 12th with any subject.
  • A candidate appearing in class 12th are also eligible to apply for the entry.
  • The age of the candidate must be between 16.5 to 19 years old.
  • A candidate must have NCC ‘C’ certificate with a minimum B grade.
  • There is no relaxation in age and other required criteria, it will same for every candidate.

Senior Wings: If you are applying for the entry after graduation, Here are the required eligibilty criteria that is mandatory to have:

  • A candidate must have done graduation in any field from any government recognized college or Institute.
  • A candidate must have NCC ‘C’ certificate with a minimum B grade.
  • The age of the candidate must be between 19 to 24 years old.
  • One must be medically and physically fit in all manner.
  • There is no relaxation in age and other required criteria, it will same for every candidate.

NCC Special Entry in Indian Army Selection Process:

The selection of the candidate would be based on the marks scored in the Graduation degree, the candidate who would get shortlisted through this; they will be called for the SSB Interview and then medical tests. The selection process would be like this:

  • Short listing of the candidates based on marks scored in graduation degree.
  • SSB Interview
  • Medical Tests etc

In this entry, A candidate will not have to appear for the Written Test, they would be directly called for the SSB Interview on the basis of their marks scored in the Graduation. The Selection is just based on the Interview. One will have to prepare well in every manner to get clear this Interview. After the Inteview is done, The Selected candidates will appear for the Medical Examination etc.

How to do Indian Army NCC Special Entry Registration:

The registration can be only done when the vacancy is released. Every year, Vacancy is released, One just has to visit the Official Website of Indian Army and do the following for the registration:

  • In order to do the NCC Registration go to the official website and click on
  • Find and click on the “Candidate’s Login” link.
  • Register as “New user” by clicking on the ‘new candidate’
  • Enter your personal details and working email ID.
  • After this process you will get, Login ID and password on the given email ID.
  • Now again you have to go to the Login page and Login to your account by putting those Login ID & password.
  • Now read complete Instruction and proceed as said.
  • Rest of the process is same you have to fill the complete form and click on “submit”
  • Next page would be to upload documents. You have upload the documents as said in the instruction. Again click on “Submit”.
  • Now next page would be for the payments, you may have to pay 250/- rupees as form charge. You can do the payments by the net banking or through Debit card or Credit card etc.
  • Now you have completed your form, now you can check your form status and can download that from status for the future reference.

Fill the form correctly and make sure not to commit any mistakes. A minor mistake in the application form can be a reason for rejection. Once you are done with your form, Now wait for the phase one result. They will shortlist the candidate on the basis of marks scored in class 12th or graduation. If you get shortlisted, You will get call letter for SSB Interview.

It depends on the type of selection, Under the SSC (Short Service Commission) they will get retired within 7 to 14 years of service. With PC (Permanent Commission), they will get retirement at the age of 55 or 60.

Every Officer in the Service is a Graduate. There is some selection that is done after the 12th but during three years of training, they get to graduate.

Can I Join Army as an Officer after the 10th?

No, To apply for the officer’s entry in the Indian Army, A candidate must have passed at least class 12th. There is no way to join the Army as an officer after the 10th but one can appear for Soldier’s entry.
