What is Sainik School?
Sainik School is basically a school where students are trained to serve the nation in future. This is completely different from other schools. In this school, all the rules and regulations are like army cadets. They provide a good atmosphere and positive vibes everywhere, the school follows the CBSE pattern and you will get CBSE Certificate, New Delhi. The Sainik School Society of India under the Ministry of defence are responsible to manage these school and them better of better.
Earlier, only male students are eligible to apply for this, but the recent article of The Times of India says now girls can also apply for this. The Sainik Schools are in different states of India. Around 127 Sainik schools are active and open for admission.
- Student can take Admission only in class 6th and class 9th and Admission will be taken on the basis of written exams.
- And for admission in class 11th admission will be taken through the interview and the candidates would be shortlisted on the basis of their marks in class 10th.
- As per the rules of Sainik School society 67% are seats are reserved for the boys of the state where is school is located. And rest of the seats are for the boys of other states and union territories.
- In these seats 25% of seats are reserved for the sons of defence personnel and ex-servicemen while 15% seats are reserved for the SC, ST.
- Only 25% of seats are available for the civilians.
How can girls Join Sainik schools:
In our country, there is no discrimination for gender. Recently defence minister Rajjnath Singh has announced the admission of girls in Sainik school from 2021-22 in a phased manner. Rajnath Singh has also asked the authorities concerned to ensure the availability of the necessary environment and female staff in the Sainik Schools.

Age criteria to join Sainik School:
- To take admission in class 6th, the student age should be 10-12 years.
- To take admission in class 9th, the student age should be between 13-15 years.
- And for the boys of class 11th, their age should be 16-18 years.
Sainik School Admission Procedure:
- Written Entrance test
- Interview by the Sainik Board
- Medical test in Government Civil Hospital.
Entrance Exam Syllabus:
Entrance test Syllabus for class 6th:
The total time duration would be 3hrs for this & the Test paper would be in English, Hindi and Malayalam etc.

Syllabus for Admission in class 9th:
The test paper would be in English only. All the candidates who would qualify for the written test will go for the interview and medical test in a government civil hospital.

There is no entrance exam for the class of 11th students.
